So... what is the answer?!

As I conclude another article for an upcoming issue of Ottawa Magazine, I stupidly ask my regular dining partner... "an e on the end of potato?"; to which I simply get, "that is so Dan Quayle"!

The origin of "potato" is from the 16th C. Spanish "patata". Not sure how that helps in any way, actually. Just flexing my Mac widgets power. I'd say no 'e'. It just gets the 'es' when pluralized, like 'hero'.

Where's a etymologist when you need one?
